Church Halls Appeal Near Half-way Point

The appeal for church halls of residence at the new University of Canterbury at Ham is nearing the half-way mark. The Combined Appeal Committee reported yesterday that the total stood at £45,000. The appeal is for £lOO,OOO to build three church halls of residence at Ham.

The largest gift to date is £l5OO from the Sutherland Self-Help Trust Board, and there have been 14 gifts of £lOOO, including two from anonymous donors. The number of donors is nearly 600. Committees have been formed in four regions outside Christchurch, including Wellington, and returns from these areas are expected soon.
