FATAL PLANE CRASH

Cause Not Found (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 5. No cause has been found for the fatal crash of a Beaver aircraft at Tinui, Wairarapa, on May 26, the chief inspector of accidents, Mr O. J. O’Brien has reported. The pilot, Henry Jacob Mangam, aged 38, married, of Masterton, a very experienced topdressing pilot, had made at least 2500 flights from the particular airstrip during the preceding 10 years. The weather was good and the aircraft fully airworthy, the report says. On take-off, the plane, carrying a load lighter than those earlier that day, struck a wire fence, then the ground, and finally a hillside, where it disintegrated and caught fire.
