TRADES COUNCIL

Annual Meeting Held An attendance said to be the biggest for several years was present at the annual meeting of the Canterbury district council of the New Zealand Federation of Labour. The annual report was presented, and officers elected. The meeting elected two delegates to represent the council and affiliated unions at the Pan-Pacific Anti-nuclear Trades Union Congress in Sydney from December 6. They are Mr L. Short and Mr R. A. Hill. Mr Hill was reelected president of the council, and Mr Short was re-elec-ted vice-president. Other officers elected were: secretary-treasurer, Mr S. Harris; executive, Messrs R. Fergus, D. Kane, N. Wills, N. McNab, F. McNulty, A. S. Roberts, and E. Blacker; disputes committee, Messrs S. Arnst and R. J. Pitcairn; trustees, Messrs G. Robinson and R. A. Hill; national councillor, Mr L. Short.
