Obituary

MR A. CAMERON

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 5. The death occurred in Wellington Hospital of Mr Alfred Robin White Cameron, a member of the staff of the New Zealand Press Association. He was 65. Born in Dunedin, Mr Cameron followed his father, Mr Donald Cameron, into a career in journalism, joining the staff of the “Otago Daily Times," where his father also worked for some years. In 1921 he joined the staff of the New Zealand Press Association in Wellington, and in 1924 was transferred to the association’s Sydney staff. In 1930 he resigned, and spent the next few years working for the Dunedin “Evening Star” and “The Press.” In 1934 he rejoined the association’s staff, and in 1937 returned to Sydney as manager of the association’s office there. He retained that appointment until the office was closed, when he returned to a senior appointment on the Wellington staff. In February this year he re : tired, but rejoined the association’s staff on a part-time basis. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs Alan Smith, of Wellington, and by two sons, both of whom live in Australia. Hjs wife died in 1951. MR J. GRAHAM (N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS, November 4. Mr John Graham, who in the Second World War was depuity-chairman of the Primary Production Board, has died. He was 82. He was also formerly chairman of the Electoral College of the Meat and Wool Boards. He was a keen naturalist and in the 1930’s introduced to New Zealand a parasite for the control of white butterflies. He also wrote articles on ornithology. He is survived by his wife and a daughter, Mrs J. de Gruchy, of Wellington.
