Progress In Croquet

The progress of the sport in Canterbury has influenced the Canterbury Croquet Association to divide its annual tournament into three sections.

Canterbury, with 550 players. is second only to Auckland (610) as the major centre in New Zealand. With 50 players, Canterbury has 24 more men than Auckland. Last year the annual tournament entries constituted a record with more than 50 more local players and a number of outside competitors entered. There is every indication that this year’s entry will be just as large. The first part <rf the three sections. the fifty-second senior tournament, will be held on November 22, with headquarters at Fendalton. On February 15 the junior

tournament will be played with headquarters at Elmwood. The Agnes Dick doubles, with section play, will be held on March 7. Headquarters will be at Cashmere.
