New Ha Is well Exchange The Post Office has almost completed the entire transfer lof telephone subscribers in the Haiswell area to a new exchange. The divisional equipment engineer (Mr E. G. Harris) confirmed yesterday that the work had cost almost £lOO,OOO. The new exchange building had cost £lB.OOO, equipment worth £47,000 had been installed and £33,000 was being spent on extending the cable system for new subscribers. “As the cable is laid, the new subscribers are getting their telephones,” he said. All applicants should have telephones next month and early in 1966 all telephone numbers will be altered. A genea-al change of numbers in Christchurch will occur when the Harewood exchange opens in March.
