DEATH OF BABY

Inquest Today An inquest into the death of a male baby which was found dead on the side of the Main South road about two miles south of Chertsey at 10.30 a.m. on October 23 will be opened before the Christchurch Coroner (Mr A. T. Bell) today. The baby’s body was found by a motorist who stopped at the spot. It was in a flour bag. The baby had been born about three days before, had lived for eight hours, and died of natural causes. Medical reports say that the baby was not born at a hospital and that a doctor was not in attendance when it was born. An order for burial will be sought by the police at the inquest, and the baby will be buried in an unmarked grave if the parents do not come forward.
