73-Year-Old Proves Fit With Only 5 Minutes Exercise Daily

Before an audience in the Horticultural Hall on Wednesday, Mr F. W. Stevens told how the Swiss Wonder Method of two easy rythmical exercises daily made a new man of him. He explained that jogging and all kinds of physical exercise left him tired and jaded and how the two simple exercises, assisted by cords and pulleys, invented by the Swiss fitness expert Arthur Abplanalp appealed to his lazy nature and proved the answer he had for 50 years been so earnestly seeking. He demonstrated how the easy exercises massaged the abdominal and other internal organs and at the same time loosened up the spinal column, thus assisting the whole nervous system to function as nature intended it to. So pleased was he with the results he had proved beyond doubt effective that he obtained the New Zealand and Australian sole agency and was now selling the fitness course which the whole family can use; he was not just selling an apparatus of pulleys and cords but a 3 to 6 months course of physical fitness personally instructed by air-mail to each individual purchaser according to his personal needs by Mr Abplanalp himself from London. Exercises done in the lying down position stimulate the blood to all parts of the body without greatly increasing the payload on the heart and at the same time relieve all pressure on the discs of the spine and joints and therefore can be done by people of all ages. The exercises are fare less a muscle builder than a scientifically based methed of relieving tension and stimulating all the vital processes of the body. The external and internal muscles are all strengthened and their activity correctly co-ordinated. People who were unable to attend the lecture may obtain a free circular from Mr Stevens by writing to P.O. Box 1806, Christchurch. —P.B.A.
