WELLINGTON, Oct. 26.
A factory specialising in the manufacture of underseal for motor vehicles was damaged by fire this morning for the second time this month. On October 6 a section of the factory belonging to Hishley Plastics (N.Z.), Ltd., on the Western Hutt Road near Belmont, experienced two explosions in which three male members of the staff were seriously injured. The building was well ablaze when four fire engines answered a call this morning, and, as there is no water reticulation in the area, the firemen could only use the tank water in the fire engines until two feather-weight pumps were carried some disstance to the Hutt river.
The water carried by the engines was used to cool down the nearby factory of W. G. Kells and tq protect drums of solvent.
The fire is thought to have started in the packing room.
