TRAMPOLINE COURTS

Brighton Has First In S.I.

The first trampoline courts in the South Island will be officially opened at New Brighton on Sunday. The project, financed by the New Brighton Surf Life-Saving Club, involves an initial investment of about £lOOO.

The courts have been erected on a vacant section in Marine Parade, a short distance from Seaview road. From their use, the surf club hopes to boost its finances to meet its ordinary running expenses.

A spokesman for the club (Mr B. Hall) said yesterday that six trampolines would be erected, each at a cost of about £lOO. They would be. in the open and a small fee would be charged for periods of about 5 minutes. He said that after 5 minutes on a trampoline most people would be exhausted.

The trampolines would be of particular interest to sports bodies and sportsmen wishing to reach complete physical fitness. However, they would be open to anyone who wanted to make use of them. Mr Hall said.
