TWO FOUND GASSED
Resuscitation By Police
A young man and young woman were found unconscious in a gas-filled house in England street abopt 2.20 a m. yesterday after the police had rushed to the house in response to a 111 emergency call. The two were unconscious and the police administered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. A St. John ambulance driver gave them oxygen and they were taken to the Christchurch Hospital. Their condition yesterday was reported to be satisfactory. The gas meter in the house had been disconnected about a year ago, but a rubber tube had been put on a gas pipe to supply a heater. The tube had fallen off.
A man who telephoned the emergency call gave part of an address then the line became silent. The police were telephoned and sent to a house in England street, but found nothing wrong. In the meantime, the emergency call had been traced and the police were diverted to the right number by a radio telephone call.
