Seven Races, No Trotting

(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH.

The Greymouth Jockey Club decided at a meeting last night to drop the two trotting races from its programme on each day of its summer meeting on November 27 and 29. The club will ran seven galloping events each day and in doing so will increase the stakes for these by £765 for the two days compared with previous years. The first race each day will start at noon and the last race at 4 p.m. The programme for each day will be as follows: five and a half furlongs and seven furlongs maiden race of £lBO each; seven furlongs hack race for horses that have not won a hack event, £200: seven furlong hack race, £200: one mile and a quarter hack race. £250; seven furlong open race, £10; one mile and a quarter open race, £450.

Stakes Higher For Hororata

Stakes for the Hororata Racing Club’s meeting, which will this year be held at Riccarton, will be increased by £650. The feature event, the Hororata Cup, will carry a stake of £lOOO, an increase of £250. All other events on the programme will be richer, too. The open sprint will be worth an extra £5O at £5OO and the high-weight event will be worth £3OO. also an increase of £5O. Two of the hack races will be increased by £25 to £3OO and the other by £5O to £350. The two maiden events will each carry a stake of £250, an increase of £25.
