Torere Best Of Awapuni Trialists
"The Press” -Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Torere excelled in his final trial at Awapuni yesterday in preparation for the Jackson Memorial Hack Stakes at the Waverley meeting tomorrow. Pipe Dream and Pizzicato, other Waverley candidates, also pleased. Working on the inside trial, Torere was running boldly alongside High Filou after half a mile In 49 3-ssec. the last three furlongs in 37sec. Torere ran well at Otakl In his first start for the season. He is one of the most promising gallopers at Awapuni and his prosects for tomorrow look bright. High Filou, which failed at Otaki in her first start, will race in the Morton Maiden at Waverley. Gaynova did not have much In reserve after half a mile in 50 l-ssec. the last three furlongs ‘n 37 l-ssec. She galloped well between races at Waipukurau 'ast week and will begin a fresh campaign in the Brewer Memorial tomorrow but the race could still benefit her. Chaumont ran half a mile alone and took 54 3-Ssec, the last three furlongs in 39 4-ssec. He ran against the hacks at Wainukurau and was well beaten He is better placed at Waverley. Pizzicato and Pipe Dream ran five furlongs in imin 3sec. the last three in 38sec. It was a fast
gallop but Pipe Dream hung In the straight. He will race in the second leg at Waverley, but has yet to find form. Pizzicato has been disapointing lately, but might improve in the Moumahaki Hack Handicap at Waverley. e
