Assailant Beat Girls Home

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, Oct. 11. Two girls who had been thrown to the ground and hit with their own handbags escaped and drove home by taxi, only to find their assailant waiting there to continue assaulting them, Senior Sergeant R. M. Schwass said in the Dunedin Magistrate’s Court today.

Dennis Patrick Moir, aged 24, a glass blower, appeared on two charges of assaulting a female and one of using obscene language. Moir pleaded guilty to all charges and was remanded by Mr J. D. Murray, S.M., to Friday for a probation report and sentence. Bail was allowed at £lOO, with one surety of £lOO. Senior Sergeant Schwass said the two girls were walking along Princes street at 4 a.m. on Saturday when a car drew up alongside tl m and Moir and two other men got out. Moir threw one of the girls to the ground ard hit her several times with her bag before turning to the other whom he also threw on the pavement. Throughout he used obscene language.
