TOUR NOT AFFECTED
Status Of Crews (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The New Zealand’s rowing tour of Australia next month would not be affected by the Australian Rowing Association’s decision not to award full national status on some of its crews, the chairman of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, Mr L. E Brooker, said yesterday. “Any difficulties that have arisen concerning the tour are purely Australian domestic matters,” he said.
“The argument appears to be whether their doubles, pairs and fours representatives wear a green and gold singlet in the tests or just their club colours,” he said. The A.R.A. had decided to give full national status to only its eights and singles representatives. This was because it has been unable to hold national championships from which it could select its four, pairs and doubles.
