Potatoes
Sir, —No wonder Australia is complaining about the quality of potatoes bought from here. Three months ago we purchased a sugar bag of potatoes. When peeled, they were as green as grass, unfit for cooking. We went back to where we bought them and were given another bag of a different kind. These, when cooked, turned black. I cooked double quantity each day to pick out what we could eat. Where are the big floury cookers one could get years ago? There is such a waste of many things here that one wonders if it is worth growing them.—Yours, etc. SENIOR CITIZEN. October 10, 1965.
