Coach May Not Come

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, Sept. 15.

The chief Russian athletic coach, Mr Gabriel Korobkov, who it was hoped would attend an athletes’ coaching school at Trentham this summer, will probably not now visit New Zealand.

Although Mr Korobkov is known to be keen to attend the school, repeated attempts to get in touch with him have met with no reply. Mr M. Ei. Carter, who is handling the invitation for the Amateur Athletic Coaches’ Association, said today that another coach might have to be sought if no word came from Mr Korobkov in the near future. The school, which will run from December 28 to January 7, is to be held annually and is part of a far-reaching plan to lift national track and field levels.
