Two Shooters Dominate
Honours were shared by L. W. Kerr and S. R. Marston in the Christchurch Gun Club’s single and double rise championships held at Yaldhurst. After shoot-ing-.off. Kerr won the single rise title and was runner-up in the double rise, while Marston finished runner-up in the single rise, and took the double rise title.
T. Everett was third in the single rise, being the only other shooter to return a possible. Both B grade championships went to E. J. Pankhurst. Marston also won the cup and trophy awarded to the shooter with the highest aggregate over all club championships during the season after having to shoot off against Everett.
Results.— Single rise championship.— Possibles: T. Everett, L. W. Kerr and S. R. Marston. 24: R. E. McIlwrick, C. C. Skinner, A. N. Barr and J. Gilmore. 23: W. Attwood. C. W. Stott and L. G. Baldock.
Double rise championship.— 18 out of 20: L. W. Kerr and S. R. Marston. 17 out of 20: J. Dillon. 16 out of 20: B. G. Begg. C. W. Stott and M. Oakden.
10 Target Handicap. No. 1 Possibles: W. Attwood. E. J. Pankhurst, N. Hunt, S. R. Marston. M. Oakden and O. T. Gebbie.
10 Target Handicap, No. 2. Possibles: W. Attwood, L. W. Kerr, M. Oakden. J. Gilmore and A. N. Barr.
Although conditions were good, the two Christchurch club teams competing in the National postal skeet teams’ championship returned only average scores. Each of the five men to a team shot at 50 targets. B. G. Begg, 49 recorded the best score. Results.—
Christchurch No. 1 Team: S. W. Geddes 42. C. W. Stott 43. S. R. Marston 46. B. G. Begg 49 and J. Berry 45. Total 225. Christchurch No. 2 Team: L. G. Baldock 41. D. R. Marston 43, W. H. Walker 41, L. H. Feathery 34 and E. J. Pankhurst 37. Total IM.
