Gifts Of £1000 For Wanganui’s Stakes
The Wanganui Trotting Club is being assisted to the extent of £lOOO in providing stakes for its annual meeting which this season will be held at Hutt Park Raceway on December 11 and 14 The Wellington club is providing its course rent-free for the two nights, and it is also giving £5OO towards the stakes paid by the Wanganui club. The Otaki and Masterton clubs are each giving £125 and Mr R. A. McKenzie is providing £250. The Wanganui club has held disastrous meetings since it began racing at Manawatu Raceway, and it is now penniless. The club hopes that by racing at Hutt Park it will stage a recovery. According to an official of the Wanganui dub, strong protests have been lodged by the Waimate Trotting Club.
