BRIDGE WON BY AUCKLAND
The Auckland team, led by B. C. Bell, retained the New Zealand teams of four contract bridge championship which was completed in Christchurch on Monday. Bell, who has missed being in the winning team only three times since 1946, was in outstanding form and his team won by a comfortable margin. Results were:—B. C. Bell, Mrs H. O. Taylor, H. K. Brainsby, R. Evans (Auckland), 1; Dr. and Mrs W. J. Hutchison, G. H. Ross, W. R. Hocking (Wellington), 2; Dr. J. D. Thomson, Dr. and Mrs H. C. Burry. H. Pickering (Christchurch), 3.
