‘Peaches Not Competitive’
fN.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Sept. 14. The New Zealand food canning industry was continually examining world markets for export opportunities but peaches were not competitive, the associate Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Shelton) told Parliament today. He had been asked by Mr D. Maclntyre (Govt., Hastings) if. in view of a report that Australia had recently sold a large quantity of surplus stocks of canned peaches to West Germany, he would have his officers explore this market as a possible export outlet for New Zealand.
