Society
One hundred and fifty members of the Canterbury branch of the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand visited “Wairewa,” in the Western Valley of Little River on Saturday. The secretary of the society (Mr W. J. Harris) gave an address on the history of the Stoney river, Lake Ellesmere area, and Mr T. F. Latham spoke of the development of the Wairewa property. The guest botanist, Mrs M. Bulfin, spoke on the natural history of Banks Peninsula, and identified plants.
