Mission Hopes For Pacific Trade Rise

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 2. Eight members of the Pacific trade mission from New Zealand returned to Auckland today looking forward to a big increase in trade with the Pacific Islands.

The leader of the 20-man trade mission, Mr H. W. B. Patterson, and a party of 10, including the New Zealand Trade Commissioner to the Pacific Islands (Mr K. W. Davies) left Fiji today for New Caledonia and will return to New Zealand next Tuesday. The publicity officer for the mission, Mr E. G. Frost, said a lot of selling had been done since the mission left New Zealand on August 14. “We have brought back

plenty of orders,” he saidk "and there is a great deal of business going to arise out of this visit.” Mr Frost was optimistic about increasing New Zealand trade with Fiji. It was likely that the Manufacturers’ Federation would build a warehouse and display centre in Suva financed by the Manufacturers’ Federation and a Government subsidy. The trade mission visited Fiji, Western Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga and New Caledonia.
