FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—The anti-cyclone east of New Zealand is moving away as the cold front over the Tasman Sea moves quickly eastwards. Forecast: Canterbury.—Fresh south-west winds becoming general this morning with colder temperatures and showers but clearing in most inland places later. Outlook: fine. Marlborough and Nelson.—Strong gusty north to north-west winds at first but fresh southwesterlies developing later; rather cloudy with a period of rain; becoming cooler. Outlook: fine. Buller and Westland.—Winds moderate and variable; southerlies gradually predominating; some areas of rain at first but weather clearing slowly from the south: cooler temperatures. Outlook: mainly fine.
