CONVERTED CAR
Driver Caught By Men (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug- .t 25. Three young men chased and captured a man who ran off after crashing a converted car into a concrete power pole on a traffic island at an intersection at Meadowbank early this evening. lan Mellsop, aged 21, Wayne Bourne, aged 20, and David Odams, aged 20, saw the accident and saw the driver of the ear run into the grounds of St. John’s College. They caught the man and handed him over to the police. Police said the car had only been taken about 15 minutes before the accident.
The impact of the crash brought down the power pole and some of the lines. The front of the car was badly damaged.
