FLEEING FLOODS
Brazilians Homeless
Z Press Assn —Copyright > RIO DE JANEIRO (Brazil). August 25 The Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Sul was practically isolated from the rest of the country yesterday by floods and snow. Thousands of persons were forced to flee their homes and the authorities feared the death toll may be high. The snow covered a large part of this agricultural State, whose weather is usually balmy. There were unconfirmed reports that the unusual cold had caused several death* from pneumonia, and the Government said it planned to send in antibiotics as soon as possible. Roads were cut in most of the State and an estimated 90 per cent of its transportation was paralysed.
