CONFERENCE PLANNED
Maoris And Ecumenism Maori youth will meet on the Rangitihi marae near Rotorua tomorrow Tor the first ecumenical conference for Maori youth. Maoris aged between 16 and 30 are eligible to attend the conference, which will continue until September 3. Leaders of the Presbyterian, Methodist and Anglican churches have given their official support. Previous camps and conferences for Maoris have been held by separate denominations but this is the first time a united meeting has been planned. A united youth rally will be held in Rotorua on August 29 and the guest speaker will be the Rev. R. M. O'Grady, secretary of the National Council of Churches youth committee in New Zealand. Guest speakers at the conference will include the Rev. G. H. Goodman, president of the Methodist Church and the Rev. B. M. Chrystall, chairman of the National Council of Churches Maori section. The conference will be a preliminary to the fourth national ecumenical youth conference planned for Hamilton at Christmas.
