(New Zealand Press Association)
HAMILTON, August 11. Seven dogs in the Dorari area of Mangakino are roaming the streets frightening adults and children and killing household pets. Recently a child was bitten and a special target of the dogs is the postman. A petition organised by Mr A. B Wood, of Mangakino, has been sent to Mr S. Wallace,
hydatids control officer of the Taupo County Council. Dogs are also roaming the Korohe area a few miles from the new town of Turangi. “We must be more insistent with Government departments," said Mr R. MacDonald. “Dead sheep are left lying around on Lands and Survey Department farms and dogs can be seen eating them most days of the week.” Mr Wallace spoke of cases of sheep being worried by roaming dogs on Lands and Survey farms in the Tauhara block. The dog owners had been traced and recompense for loses was in the hands of the Lands and Survey Department.
