RECRUITED OVERSEAS

Control Staff For Mangere (Special Crspdt NZ P A.) LONDON, August 11. The Civil Aviation Department has recruited “nearly enough” air traffic control officers in Britain and Canada to staff the new Mangere International Airport and to make up for present over-all shortages, Mr E. McNae, who is responsible for air traffic control staff requirements, said today. He will return to New Zealand on August 21 after a long recruiting campaign. “However, we have still to make up the forward wastage prospect,” he emphasised. Mr McNae described his trip as “moderately success ful." He obtained 30 officers who would arrive in New Zealand between mid-Septem-ber and March and April of next year.
