League Cup At Stake
Canterbury’s Rugby League defeat by Wellington and its subsequent elimination from the Rothmans tournament may be a blessing in disguise. The representative match against Auckland tomorrow week will automatically become a Northern Union Cup challenge. The cup is played for whenever the holder meets another province except in the Rothmans tournament.
Auckland will play Wellington next Saturday. If Wellington wins it will become the first provincial Rothmans winner. Should Auckland win then Wellington has the right to play a return match inj Auckland as Wellington won j both the northern and south-1 era sections. i
