THREE BOYS ARRESTED

13 Burglaries

Three boys, two aged 13 and the other 14, who were arrested at 3.15 a.m. on Thursday. are alleged by the police to have committed 13 burglaries in the last five weeks. The boys were arrested in the Briggston School. The police allege that they burgled several other schools and shops. The police recovered about £l5O worth of articles, including transistor radios, torches, sheath knives, bicycle accessories, alarm clocks, wrist-watches, cigarette lighters, and fireworks. They also took possession of £5O in notes and coins found by detectives in three hiding places at the back of sections and in a paddock. The boys appeared before Mr E. A. Lee, S.M., at a special sitting of the Children’s Court on Thursday afternoon on a joint charge of breaking and entering the Briggston School on August 5. The charge was adjourned to August 13, and the boys were ordered - to be kept in the custody of the Child Welfare Division.
