CASS BAY DEPOT

“No Rivalry” There was no rivalry between the Navy League Sea Cadets and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research over the use of the former armament depot at Cass Bay, said Mr J. P. Shelley, president of the Canterbury branch of the Navy League, last night. Addressing members at the annual meeting of the branch Mr Shelley said the report in "The Press” yesterday suggesting rival claims was incorrect. “There is certainly no need for concern: everything is perfectly amicable,” he said. “We’ll get what we want and the D.S.LR. will get what it wants. Actually the entire area has been transferred to the D.S.LR, which has willingly leased what we need,” said Mr Shelley.
