TELEVISION CHANGE
No Troubles Expected The change-over of the Christchurch television transmitter from Gloucester street to Sugarloaf Hill on August 14 has been discussed by Mr R. G. Tulloch, the regional engineer of the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation, with the Canterbury-West-land Radio and Television Retailers’ Association. Mr Tulloch said it had been agreed at a meeting that there was no cause for panic by the viewing public, and that any adjustment to sets could be given attention by the trained specialists representing the local firms. As he had said previously, no major problems were expected, but until the new transmitter was operating noone could give an assurance that there would not be unknown factors which might mean some adjustments in certain areas, Mr Tulloch said. In addition to preliminary tests for adjustments to the aerial, the test pattern of CHTV3 would be transmitted continuously from 9 a.in. on August 14 to give the public and the trade more time to make any adjustment or to seek professional advice, Mr Tulloch said.
