Count Lin To Arrive Today
The Grand National Steeplechase candidate. Count Lin, is due in Christchurch this morning. Count Lin was to have been flown from the North Island but missed the plane after being stranded in a snowstorm. His owner-trainer, Mr T. H. Knowles, had not engaged a rider for Count Lin late yesterday. Count Lin stayed over night at Awapuni and worked there yesterday. “The Press" correspondent said Count Lin looked unharmed by his trip down. His work yesterday showed that he was at his peak form for tomorrow’s test. Last
year Count Lin ran third in the Grand National. Count Lin managed Riccarton country well last year although he ran off in the Beaufort Steeplechase on the second day. He did the same In this year's Waikato Steeplechase when appearing to have the race In hia grasp. Yesterday, Count Lin worked a mile with Powerful. They stayed together early but Count Lin drew away at the finish and won by three lengths. The mile took him Imin 49sec, the iast three furlongs In 38 l-ssec. It was good work for jumpers Count Lin looked brighter than when trained at Awapuni earlier.
