Canadian Projects For Co-operation

The Canadian Government made a grant of 25,000 dollars to help inform the Canadian people on International Co-operation Year (1965), according to information received by the national president of the National Council of Women of New Zealand (Mrs W. Grant) from the N.C.W. of the United States.

The Canadian grant was; made to an executive council of 1.C.Y., and provided it with office space and equpiment. The publicity was focused on summer conferences, exhibitions, travel studies and special lectures to give dimension to LC.Y. By March last, more than 100 projects had been initiated by non-governmental organisations in Canada. By highlighting the achievements made possible by intemationail co-operation and by the technical assistance received from other countries and specialised agencies. By highlighting the work done by the United Nations to eliminate colonialism. By organising seminars, lectures, and discussions on international co-operation and activities of the United Nations. Colombia appointed a coordinating committee for international Cooperation Year to prepare plans for its celebration in association with the director of the United Nations Information Centre at Bogota. The Government of Denmark approved a large sum of money for planned information purposes to make I.C.Y. known to the people. Ethiopia In Ethiopia the Ministry of Information publicised the project through press, radio and television, organised special lectures in all educational institutes and showed films with commentary of activities of the United Nations, free of charge. The Government of Togo, formerly a United Nations trust territory under French administration promised to make International Cooperation Year "an unprecedented success."
