Active At 92

A Lyttelton woman, who recently celebrated her 92nd birthday by visiting the Canterbury Museum and having a tea celebration with friends in the city, is remarkably active for her years. She is Mrs Margaret Clow, who does her own housework, washing and normal domestic tasks at her home in Godley quay. Mrs Clow was born in Oteramika, Southland, in 1873 and was formerly Miss Margaret Copland. She came to live in Canterbury in 1893. Mrs Clow is not interested in television but listens to the radio and as hobbies she has done a considerable amount of needlework, embroidery and crochet work. A keen church-goer, Mrs Clow attends Lyttelton’s St. John’s Presbyterian Church regularly and much of the needlework she does goes to the church. Mrs Clow has been married twice and both her husbands have predeceased her. Her first husband, Mr C. Chapman, was the son of the first lighthousekepper at Godley Head. Mrs Clow came to live at Lyttelton over 20 years ago after her second marriage.
