Title Fight For Clay
(N.Z. Pre»« Assn. —Copyright) NEW YORK, August 5. The world heavy-weight boxing champion, Cassius Clay said yesterday, “It is most likely” he would fight Floyd Patterson for the title in about two and a half months. The fight could take place in either Washington or New York City. Before leaving for 10 exhibition bouts in Sweden, Clay said that delays in negotiations resulted from tax problems. “I’m fighting for aftertax money,” he said. “If a fight like this brings in about four million dollars I’d be lucky to make 10,000 dollars out of it.”
