’BOKS STILL SEARCHING

(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Aug. 5. The Springboks’ selectors have continued their policy of searching for the right blend in the side it has named to meet Waikato on Saturday.

G. S. Brynard will have his first game in New Zealand at centre, while L, J. Slabber, the replacement, will finally pack down in his right position at number eight. The Springbok team could be a strong one, but there are some qualifications. In the back, much will depend on how F. T. Roux and Brynard combine. If they are successful, they could prove an extremely dangerous pair on attack. Third Pairing

The young fly-half, J. H. Barnard, will have his seccond successive game, this time teamed with C. M. Smith, at half-back. In the last three games, the Springbok inside back pairings have been, D. J. de Villiers and K. Oxlee (first test). De Villiers and Barnard (Wanganui-King Country) and sow Smith and Barnard. In the forwards, P. H. Botha will have his second game since recovering from a shoulder injury, and is teamed with the test lock, J. Naude. A Janson, who was a success against the New Zealand Juniors on the side of the scrum, reverts to the flank for the Waikato game, after moving back to his normal position at lock for several matches.
