BASKETBALL MATCHES

Senior Team At Dunedin Canterbury women’s basketball teams will be spread over the bottom half of New Zealand today. The senior team is at the South Island tournament in Dunedin; the senior reserve and junior sides are at Wellington: the third and fourth grade teams play West Coast and Buller at Hokitika; and fourth, fifth and sixth grade teams will .play their postponed eleventh round club games in Christchurch. All the senior players will be given at least one match at Dunedin and for the younger players—C. Holland, M. Hansen and S. Jones —it will be their first experience of really hard competitive play. Southland, runner-up in last year’s New Zealand tournament, will be taking part and is reported to have a stronger team this season. To hold this side, and Otago, Canterbury w’ill need to show some improvement on its performance against Hutt Valley last week-end.
