Fewer Books Borrowed
(Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Aug. 5. About 1700 fewer books were borrowed from the General Assembly Library during the last financial year. Television seemed to be responsible, said the chief librarian (Mr J. O. Wilson) in his annual report to Parliament. He said about £7OOO was spent on books during the year. The library now contained more than 300,850 books. The first 100,000 took 62 years to acquire and the last 100,000 only 14 years.
