NEW DRIVING OFFENCE
Bill To Come Before House (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, July 22. The British Government intends soon to bring in a Bill to make it an offence to drive a car with more than a defined level of alcohol in the blood, the Minister of Transport, Mr T. Fraser, said last night. The Bill is to be introduced in the next session. Mr Fraser said a special investigation into road deaths during last December and January showed that campaigns of persuasion were not enough. Out of 267 drivers or riders who died within the 12 separate peak accident hours during that period, no fewer than 102 had alcohol in their blood, he said.
