Guilds Mark Birthdays
The eleventh birthday party of the Papainui Townswomen's Guild was held in the Returned Servicemen’s Association Hall. The president, Mrs R. Tolputt, presided. Among the guests were Mesdames C. Crawford, J. Steinmetz, and D. Plumridge. The cake was cut by Mrs E. Boocock.
Items were given by the Papanui drama group, the St. Albans League of Mothers, Mesdames P. Hamilton and T: Fleming, Misses R. Griffiths, and M. Mangels. The Beckenham Townswomen’s Guild celebrated its sixteenth birthday in the Colombo Street Baptist Hall on Tuesday. The guests, including the Dominion vice-president and secretary, Mesdames C. Crawford and F. Pheloung, two past Dominion officers, Mesdames C. Plumridge and R. Smith, and Mrs A. Thompson, of the Dominion executive, and Mesdames R. Alli Son, J. Russell and K. Steinmetz, of the area federation, were welcomed by Mrs W. Grieve. The cake was cut by Mrs Allison. Items were given by guild members.
