Meetings Planned 6V.Z. Press Ann.— Copyright ’ NEW YORK. July 22. Joint meetings will be held to choose Australian, Canadian and New Zealand candidates for United Nations posts the three countries now share with Western European countries. This was decided today by the Western European group of 20 United Nations delegations. Members of the group reported the decision after a private meeting al which it took up a request for the joint meetings from the three socalled odd Commonwealth countries. The co-chairmen were Britain and France. U.N. General Assembly resolutions of 1963, in parcelling out posts on a regional basis, provide that “Western European and other states" are to get two of the 17 assembly vice-presidencies, one of the seven Assembly committee chairmanships, two of the 10 non-permanent seats on an enlarged Security Council and one of the nine seats to be added in enlarging the Economic and Social Council. “Other states” is understood to mean Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
