North B.H. Boosts Sales By 31 p.c.

(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) SYDNEY, July 21. North Broken Hill boosted sales by more than 31 per cent —from £9,045,000 to £11,875,000 —for the year ended June 30.

Last year receipts at Broken Hill (after freight and treatment charges) almost doubled to £9,045,000. Thie report shows that North Broken Hill received substantially higher prices for lead, zinc and Silver during the year. Realised price per ton for lead rose £46 8s 5d to £137 0s 7d and zinc by £26 9s a ton to £l4l 12s sd. The price realised for silver was 1.34 d higher at Ils 7d oz. The report shows that the realised price for lead and zinc was lower in the final quarter than in the full year, but the price for silver improved slightly. In the final quarter the price of lead slipped back to £135 16s 6d a ton and zinc to £137 10s a ton, while the price for silver went up to Ils 7.12 d an ounce. Production Sold Production sold by North Broken Hill was generally lower than for 1963-64. During the year the company sold 60,744 tons of lead (previous year 75,288 tons). 3,790,1310 z of silver (3,8067400 z) and 96,981 tons of zinc (105,524 tons). Working expenditure went up £696,000 to £4,335,000, capital expenditure increased by £244,000 to £544.000, and other revenue expenditure went up by £113,000 to £380,000. than the earlier quarters, with working expenditure claiming £1,219,000, capital expenditure £225,000 and other revenue expenditure £114,000. During the year the company treated 499,514 tons of crude ore compared with 497,558 tons in the previous year and 134,342 tons in the June quarter. Directors point out in today’s report that receipts at Broken Hill do not include advances against concentrates sold where the prices of metal content have not yet been determined. They say the figures are subject to audit and do not allow for royalties, taxation or any other provision or for changes in tonnages or values of unrealised concentrates.
