NO TRACE OF YACHT
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 23. Searches by the Search and Rescue Organisation have failed to find any trace of the 27ft yacht Wakanui, which left Suva on May 22 for Whangarei. The Wakanui is skippered by Phillip Sharp, of 87 Anzac street, Takapuna. James Davies, of 14 Ewen street, Takapuna, and another man who joined the boat at Suva make up the crew. The Wakanui was expected to reach Whangarei early in June. Concern for her safety began to grow when the craft had not been sighted by June 22. The officer in charge of the Search and Rescue Organisation, Mr T. W. Keals-Smith. said tonight that there would be no more searches for the Wakanui. However, aircrews on routine flights would still be on the look-out for the yacht.
