This has been revealed in a statistical study of 600 pub-lic-school boys, contained in a book commemorating the first centenary of Malvern College, Worcestershire. Answers by boys, aged 13

to 18, in personal questionnaires showed the majority of them received between 3s 6d and 10s a week pocket money. But 49 of them got none at all and five were given more than 30s. One boy had a £550-a-year allowance from which he had to pay his own school fees. On pocket money, Malvern College says: “We think that between 3s 6d and 5s is about the right amount for junior boys. Seniors should get no
