FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—The depression in the south Tasman Sea is expected to become slow moving. Forecast: Canterbury,—Moderate north-east to north winds; showers persisting in the Alps; elsewhere some scattered rain at first this morning, but becoming mainly fine and milder. Outlook: mainly fine. Buller and Westland.—Moderate to fresh northerly winds; changeable with showers; moderate temperatures. Outlook: unsettled. Marlborough.—North to north-west winds, fresh to strong in exposed parts of the Sounds; clearing except for scattered showers around the high country; moderate to mild afternoon temperatures. Outlook: north-westerlies with scattered showers. Nelson. —Moderate northerlies; occasional rain in the western high country, easing elsewhere with partly cloudy weather later; moderate temperatures.
