AUSTRALIAN WOOL SALES
Market Again Confident (N.Z. Press Atfn—Copyright) I SYDNEY. July 15. Very strong and widespread competition was experienced from Japan, the Continent, United Kingdom and Eastern Europe, with support on suit-, able lines by local mills on the final day of the Sydney Series No. 1 1965-66 wool sales. The market once again showed the confident tone experienced earlier in the week ( and values for most descrip-' tions of Merino fleece and. skirtings ruled fully firm. Strong Inquiry I There was a particularly strong inquiry for broader' Merino fleece wools and values for these types were equal to the highest point of the week. Under keen demand, comeback, crossbred and carding wools remained fully firm. Wools from the west, central slopes and plains made up the offering. Light to medium vegetable fault and varying degrees of •dust were in evidence, and a large proportion of the wools lacked twelve months growth. There was a normal weight of carding wools and a small selection of comebacks and .crossbreds. The offering was 13,770 bales and 12,988 bales or 94.32 per cent were sold. All cleans, prices were unchanged on yesterday’s quotations. Crossbred prices were 433 b 65d, 445 63)d.
South Otago Move,— South Otago Freezing Company reports approval in principle, has been given to the installation of two extra mutton dressing chains, and consequential ad ditions to all other departmental Fmegand works. A prelim inary survey indicates this will cost more than £1.250,000.—P.A
