CATTLE FOR MANILA
30 Shipped At Auckland (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 14. Thirty two-year-old Friesian heifers were loaded aboard the freighter Norman today for shipment to Manila. The cattle, which are due to calve in about a month, will be used on a town milk supply farm. They will join a herd of 400 Jersey and Friesian cows. The new owner, Mr Vincente Araneta, of Grasslands Farm, Ltd., chose most of the cattle earlier this year. Twenty-four of the heifers are from Manawatu and the rest are from Waiuku. x Mr J. L. Russell, of Palmerston North, who is travelling with the heifers, said the trip would take between 10 and 14 days. Nelson Dredge Arrives.— The Nelson Harbour Board’s 13-year-old, motor grab hopper dredge. Tasman Bay. arrived at Lyttelton on Wednesday evening for overhaul and survey.
