STRUCK BY TRAIN
Gore Man Killed (N.Z. Press Association) GORE, July 14. A male pedestrian was killed instantly when he was struck by a locomotive on a level crossing in the business i area of Gore today during the i lunch hour. He was i Sidney William Cecil Jenkins, aged 41 years, a sheetmetal worker. He was married, but did not ' have a family. The accident occurred at 12.10 p.m. Warning lights and bells were working at the crossing at the time, and two trains were on the tracks. Mr Jenkins, who was deaf, was struck by a steam locomotive drawing a goods train from the north into the railway yard. He was carried some 20 yards beyond the crossing.
